Rachel reached out with her telekinesis and steered rubble from the explosion over at the soldiers
and man sized sentinels.. It helped cover them as they followed behind Cable and Karenza towards
the hill..
{Good idea Nate.. We know this facility's in’s and outs..} Rachel telepathically responded..
“Move out!” Shouted Cable as they headed for the hill..

Cass bit her lip as she looked at the Sentinels all around them.
Deja vu was indeed a bitch.
Antonio Estacado, long before he joined the X-Men, had been involved in developing Sentinels for the government. She still had nightmares about the damned things every few months. They were always the things that took Antonio and Giovanna away from her. And even when she woke up, it took her hours to shake the feeling of dread.
{{I have no idea about these damned things}} she said telepathically to the team as she followed her parents. {{These are light years ahead of what Tonio was involved with back in the day}}
As they moved toward the side of the hill, Cass feared the ones that fell into the sea might indeed come flying back up at them, but so far, so good. She looked down at the choppy waves, and it made her wonder how long this had been going on, seemingly unchecked.
{{You good, little bro?}} Cass asked Curran as the group kept pushing forward. "Shit!" she said aloud as the ground under her feet rumbled again. "Dad, did the ones you knocked into the water decide to blast into the cliff or something?"

With a wave of Jean’s hand a sentinel that was flying up towards Vulcan and her went spinning back down. Vulcan had blasted another sentinel.
{Vulcan I see Havok and his group coming over the hill. I see an ambush set up by these new man size sentinels. We should say hello!” Jean said
as she began to descend downward upon them. A pure raw blast of telekinetic energy rained down upon them.

Inside of the Muir Island science station a holographic image of Omega Sentinel appeared into
the center of the station.. She looked over at the closest man size sentinel to her side..
“Sentinel 364 come here!” She commanded as the sentinel walked over to her.. With her right
hand she touched the sentinels shoulder and took full control of the sentinel.. Even though she
was in a holographic form she was still a conduit to the Orchis station that was orbiting the earth..
Wires shot out from the sentinel and connected to the main computer of the research facility and
began to download all the information.. The information is then sent to the Orchis station..
{Devo the information you're getting is heavily encrypted and has many traps if accessed..
Doctor McCoy is very clever when it comes to this.. I will have to slowly decrypt it personally which
could take up to a month.. I have worked with him and his team and I have seen his process.. So
lock the information away! I am going to confront the X-Men.. I am going to try and delay them from
getting inside.. I am also going to try and find out how they knew we were here.. We may have a mole
so raise the security level to red!} Omega Sentinel communicated to Devo on the station..
She disappeared from the facility to the back of the facility.. Omega Sentinel took control of the giant
sentinels that were standing guard.. Her consciousness was fully divided into the sentinels.. In her
holographic form she was no threat to the mutants but she did not need a physical body.. She had her
war machines..
Omega could hear them coming with the sound of particle blasts and sentinels as they traveled around and
then saw her floating in the air with the sentinels behind her..
“Karima?!” Cable spouted as the mutants looked confused to see her.. This told her a lot of information that
she needed.. The surprised look and calling her by her human name meant that they knew nothing of Orchis
command structure.. She was sure that there was not a mole close to the command council.. Omega doubted
that there was a mole but she was very confused on how they knew that she had a team arrive on the island..
“No Cable.. Karima is dead and only Omega Sentinel remains.. You looked surprised to see me.. How did you
know that I had sentinels on Muir?!.. I was able to deactivate the security system successfully.. I thought all of
you X-Men were celebrating under the ocean.. A wedding?” She asked knowing they had the jellyfish drone..

the short period he had arrived in this reality..
Major X moved in a tactical formation like his father Cable taught him.. It was good to see this version
of his father following the same structure he was taught.. He also saw Cass and the others followed the
same structure.. Alexander was trying not to be distracted by his thoughts but he really enjoyed having
siblings around him.. Something he did not have in his reality.. The only person that did not follow the
structure was Karenza.. Karenza had her own way of moving that was still a part of Cable’s military style
but it was her own.. The way she moved with her sword in hand and spear slung across her back was very
ancient and scary.. It was clear to the Major that she had fought in many battles for centuries.. The way she
moved around the stones was almost like a lion hunting for its prey.. When they came around the corner
everyone stopped and had a look of shock even Karenza which to be honest frightened Alexander.. He was
going to open fire but stopped himself and just waited as the female sentinel person began to speak.. Instantly
with the banter the Major knew there was a history here..

Before Cable responded they turned around the corner and he saw an old face that he had
not seen in a very long time..
“Karima?!” Cable spouted out as he had a personal friendship with her and had many missions
as X-Men.. Her response of Karima was dead and that only Omega Sentinel remained.. Surprised
him and made him look over to Karenza who looked over at him at the same time.. They both
communicated through their eyes the pain of losing a friend to the machine..
{She has Forge..} He said to everyone through his link.. {Ravager, I need you to stay calm..} He
continued in his link..
“I mourn for Karima!. I do not know how it was possible that you were able to destroy her.. Henry
destroyed those programs that made it possible!. As I look at you I can see that she is gone!. Omega
Sentinel I welcome the chance to avenge her death!” Cable responded as he raised his rifle at her..
“To answer your question.. We upgraded all our tech and you did not do as well of removing the security
system as you thought!” Shouted Cable as he played a bluff.. He did not want her to know the real reason
they were on the island..

Kari took a deep breath as the group came face to face with Omega Sentinel. The news that Karima was no more broke her heart.
{{If Forge is here, we'll find him}} Kari said telepathically to the group as she watched the Sentinels near Omega Sentinel. These stupid machines brought back too many memories, and this cursed hunk of Scottish rock only seemed to make them worse.

Kari's eyes darted around at the mental intrusion, but the person, no creature, that had spoken those words to her so long ago was long gone from this world. It had been the time of the Summers War, the last words spoken to her when she "died" blowing up a Sentinel Hive Mind in space. The words were spoken by Earl, the Darkling that had been one of the companions of Cass' now-dead husband Antonio Estacado.
{{Nate, I'm fine. Just more old memories that come up around this place}} Kari said telepathically to Cable. {{I'm afraid any sort of scans, telepathic or mystic, might set these bastards off. We go slowly}} she said as she addressed everyone again. She'd deal with the "voice of Earl" when this was finished.

Cass nodded to Alexander as the group watched her parents interacting with Omega Sentinel. She remembered Karima, and the knot in her stomach only served as a reminder of how much had been lost by the X-Men to these damnable machines. Her Dad was playing this bluff for all it was worth, and she was not about to do anything to give him away.
As she kept an eye on her younger brother Curran, Cass moved closer to Alexander, making sure she was equidistant between them. She was not going to lose any family members today if she could help it.
The idea that Forge could be here was almost too much to hope for, but it also terrified her that he might be there and under some form of mind control. She looked over at her Aunt Rachel and Jackson and knew the thought of Forge being held captive must have been killing them inside.
{{We hold fast. As always}} Cass said to her brothers as they watched everything unfold. |

Some of the Orchis soldiers above ground weren't just former AIM, some of them had been ex-Weapon Plus operatives. Those were the one's she was tasked to work with, and when Karenza unleashed her spikes, Armitage was taken down as well, and then she was buried under Rachel's TK attack. Thanks to her healing factor, Armitage was able to recover and dug herself from out of the rubble and removed her broken helmet and tossed it to the side.
With her cybernetics, she could still detect the attacking mutants, but since they were underground and still shaken from the previous attacks, she couldn't get an exact location. Once she got to her feet, Armitage grabbed a rifle from off of the ground and began to follow the X-Men through the hole they left behind.It took her a couple of minutes to catch up thanks to enhanced speed, but she arrived just behind the X-Men while they were stopped by a group of Sentinels in control of Omega Sentinel. Because Omega hadn't given the command yet, she didn't open fire, and simply aimed her rifle in their direction.
She couldn't recognize them, she was as lost to her programming as Omega Sentinel was, but any one of them would see that she was Ray's sister.

A blonde haired girl sat in one of the cells underground in what seemed like a drug induced hypnosis when a smaller probe entered her cell.
("You are needed.") It said as tendrils shot out from its back and injected her with more serum. The girl screamed out in pain before she went silent.
(" NOW.....Go topside.") The probe said to which the girl responded. "As you command " Her voice sounding very robotic as fire erupted from around her she took on dragon like characteristics as wings formed along her arms . She shot out of the hatch that was opened for her into the sky.

Jackson could not move or speak as he was in shock. So much information in his mind to process. This Orchis had his father and he may be in
that facility or not. His father was in his control and he was going to do everything in his power to rescue him. Jackson was relieved to know the
mystery of his father's disappearance was answered. He was so in his head that both Rachel and Karenza’s voice was like a whisper in the back
of his mind like background noise. Jackson’s own thoughts were very loud and drowned out everything.
“Where is my father!” Ravager shouted at Omega Sentinel. At that moment he detected something that was behind them. He turned to see that
it was Ray’s sister but she was pointing one of the Orchis enhanced rifles at them.

sentinels so Havok and the other could get over the hill.
She shot her hand out as an animalistic roar could be heard coming from the woman as she did this fire hit the ground in front of Vulcan.
Elda who was still in the air tried to reach out feeling this woman wasn't a sentinel. ("Please we are not here to hurt you. You have been brainwashed....Let me.") As she tried to help break through the programming she grabbed her head in pain as Firechild felt some sort of psionic mental block hit her back. ."You are not welcome in my head...." Nightmare responded. |
