Betsy created a shield and sword just in time to defend off the golden shadow demons. Now that Faroak and The Shadow King were
separated the demons were able to be killed and stay dead in the physical world. Xorn’s vortex also was draining the power of the
astral plane from the island which also made the Shadow King and all its demonic form weaker by the minute. Both Betsy and Kwannon
knew that all of that would change if the shadow forces could get a hold of Faroak again.
(Saber you need to teleport Amhal Faroak away from Muir island.) Betsy said telepathically to her husband just as both her brother
Captain Britain and his wife Meggan joined her in battle.
“I was hoping that both of you would show up!”

Now that the shadow demons were more rooted in the physical realm there was a strong smell of sulfur that reminded Diana of her
husband Nightcrawler with the black tar like blood from the demons. Suprema’s sword and shield was covered in the black blood as
well as her armor.
Diana tried to see where Scarlet and Raiden were but there were so many demons blocking the way. The smoke from Jubilee’s explosions
also made it difficult to see but the explosions pointed in a direction that Suprema started to move in.
“Cain! Sarah this way!” Suprema shouted to Juggernaut and his wife. She was hoping that the three of them would push through the demons
faster.

“Saber and the others are back!” Gambit shouted out to everyone as he saw the Sinnergy Phoenix
in the sky over the facility.. At the same time he tossed a spread of charged cards at the horde that
was trying to move on both Scarlet and Ray..
“After we free Ray we need to work our way back to the others!” He spouted out as he leaped in close
to Rogue and went low with his combat staff and swept the feet from under a demon taking it down..
Gambit followed it up with a charged card to the face of the creature..
at the demons.
“That is good news for us! I already see the change in these creatures! Once I knock them down they stay down! That was not happening
before!” Rogue said to Gambit and everyone that could hear her. As she spoke she grabbed a demon by its leg and used the creature as a
weapon. She swung it around hitting other shadow demons with it.
“I agree, Surgah! Once we get Ray and Scarlet we hightail out of here and join the others!” |

The Horde that Revolver was fighting kept changing forms from Raiden to demon and now
copies of the Shadow King..
As Gallion fought with a sword in each hand and could see the Facility in the distance..
Revolver was in physical combat with two of the shadow demons.. He was able to slash the
demons a few times and showed pain and damage but they were still fighting back.. One of
the demons almost bit his face but his helmet protected him..
Revolver was distracted when he saw the bright blue of the Sinnergy Phoenix rise in the air in
the distance which allowed a demon to slash Gallion on the side which took him to the ground..
Suddenly the sound of explosions and multi-colored lights as his wife Jubilee came to his defense..
was fighting. All of them in this area of the battle were focused on getting to Raiden and Scarlet.
Jubilee ran to Revolver's side blowing up more demons on the way to him.
“Okay handsome we can do this together! I hope Scarlet and Ray are okay. Both of them are bad asses so I am sure they are holding their
own! One thing is missing from this battle that has disturbed me! The lack of bubble gum while kicking ass!” Jubilee took a moment to pull
out a stick of bubble gum and unwrapped it and popped it in her mouth.
“Much better!” She said as she sent out more fireworks and blew a bubble at the same time. A classic Jubilee move. |

Scott placed his hand on Vulcan’s shoulder..
“It’s alright little brother, you did your best against that sadistic monster.. Cassandra wanted you
to lose control like that because you weakened her in your fight.. She needed to get away and
used your rage and power to create her escape with Rachel..” He said as he looked over at Jean
and Firechild..
“Nova has Rachel under her power and we will need to free her.” Cyclops said as another explosion
of energy knocked all of them to the ground.. Everyone grabbed their head as the explosion was
psychic in nature.. He looked down the hill and saw all the X-Men that went into Amhal Faroak’s
mind were now in front of The Muir Island Science Facility.. Amhal’s body lay motionless on the
ground with the X-Men surrounding him and fighting off new shadow demons with strange golden
masks of the Shadow King.. Cyclops watched as Saber formed his Phoenix Raptor and rescued
Xorn from the ground and Xorn creating a vortex..
What really caught Scott’s attention was the Shadow King was in his true form and free from Faroak..
The Shadow King was about the size of a sentinel and was about to attack Xorn when Cyclops unleashed
an optic blast at its full power which caused Scott’s head to jerk back. The blast shot down the hill striking
the Shadow King in the back and taking it down to the ground..
trying to stand back up to fight Persha when Alex’s blast struck him in the face knocking him down again.
“So big brother and little brother should the three of us take care of this parasite for good?” Havok said to Cyclops and Vulcan as he charged
up for another blast.
his emotions to not be in control of his anger. Something he was desperately trying to do since his return to earth and his family. The Shi’ar and other
intergalactic empires saw him as a monster with good reason. He tried so hard to keep his darkness in check and Cassandra Nova destroyed that control
in him and he almost killed everyone on the island. Gabriel felt blessed that Jean came to him with understanding and lifted him out of his anger. He
admired his older brother Scott’s marriage to a powerful and grateful woman like her. Vulcan’s mind began to think about his wife Cal’Syee also known as
Deathbird and their child who he was sure was born by now.
“My power is still recovering from that fight but I have enough power to join in!” Vulcan declared as he also joined his brothers with a blast of his own from
his eyes like Cyclops at the Shadow King. |

Jackson was very worried about Rachel that it took a lot of energy to keep his mind in the battle. If it was not for his half brother Major X
showing up like he did he would have been in big trouble.
“Thank you brother, that was a close one!” Ravager said as Major X hurried over to him and together they began to unload their guns into the
demon horde. The battle was rapidly turning in their favor as they pressed their attack.

Forge had hidden himself behind a boulder and used the tech in his cybernetic hand to work on the pulse rifle he had taken and enhanced
the weapon with sentinel parts that were laying in the mud. It took a few minutes to clean the mud off before he transformed it into parts
for the rifle to become more powerful. When he was done he stepped out from behind the boulder and began to fire his newly enhanced
weapon onto the horde and hurried to join both Ravager and Major X. Before he made it to them he heard Ravager call Major X his brother.
Which confused him when he realized that in Jean’s memory scape he learned that Major X was an alternate world son of Storm and Cable.
That meant that Ravager knew that Storm was his mother.
“So you know the truth that I am your father?” Forge said as he joined both of them in blasting the horde.

As Kari stood at Nathan's back fighting the shadow demons, she heard Scarlett's plea and let a portion of the Askani Force go to her daughter. She knew Nathan could feel the sudden impact that little loan caused his wife, but desperate times were not the place to quibble about anything. "I'm fine. I just hope what Xorn is doing can weaken those shadows dogging Ray. I don't dare cast a spell at this point, so the sword will have to do for now!"
Kari looked briefly at Cailleach as she, too, went after some of the Shadow King's demons, sending one to a fiery end with her own blade. "If your thoughts are right about Stryfe, Nathan, then he either did what he did to get her back or because he thought she was really dead. And as for Cass..."
As she spun to take on another demon, Kari thought back to Cass, Antonio and Giovanna. Giovanna had likely inherited her father's darkness powers, and that alone would have made her a target for any number of villains.
As thoughts floated around the team link, Kari tried to see if she could see where Nova had fled to with Rachel. "We'll get Rachel back, Nathan. I'll gladly take out that bald fool along with the damned spider."

Cair fell silent as Logan was stabbed by the Shadow King's minion and burst into flame, but she was not fast enough to get to him before Genn did. ((Why can't I be a healer? You do everything else, Witchblade, why not that?))
The pain of feeling "a bit less than" at the moment only made the Witchblade react more erratically than usual as tendrils shot out and impaled more of the demon horde, causing them to burst into flames as they fell to the ground.
"Mom! I'm good!" Seth shouted as he turned to survey the battlefield. "Go help Dad and Genn!"
Cair knew in that moment that she really did need to stop being the mother hen so much where Seth was concerned. He was handling himself like, well, a Howlett. She could not ask for anything more than that at this point. She ran to Logan and Genn and helped take out more of the advancing demon horde. "Thank you," she said to Ghost as she played defense while her husband healed. "Get a healer over here!" she shouted as she saw Hayley make a break across the battlefield.

Hayley heard Cair screaming and broke into a run, doing a quick scan as she kept slicing demons in her path. "I think they are healing of their own accord, but I will gladly help you dispatch these damned things and help heal if needed," she said as she looked first to Logan and then Genn. "Healing while phasing does not always work well, but I can help if you need to unphase, Genn. Logan, I can boost your own healing to speed it up. I know Kari has done it for you before."
A soft green light came over Logan as Hayley tried to use all the powers Danu had gifted her with before that damned botched spell with Sydney, but a tiny bit of blood slipped from her nose and ran down her face. "Cair, before you say a word, I'm fine. I had to fight off that demon Farouk with the help of Cailleach, so I am not exactly in the best spot mentally yet."
"They used Adrian to get to you. I get it," Cair said as more tendrils shot out against the demon horde.
"Thank you for not pressing the point too hard," Hayley said as she looked back at Cair. "Now I just wish I could get the goddess Brigantia to leave Sydney in peace. This goddess avatar business is not always a blessing." |

Wolverine mode slashing and stabbing anything that was not her own people.. While Hayley was
healing Logan and Genn.. Laura.. Gabby.. Cair and Seth had created a protective line around them..
“The Shadow demons are staying dead this time! Whatever Xorn has done, it is working!” Laura called
out to Cair as sparks flew when her claws made contact with the gold blade of the shadow demon's sword..
It took everything she had to block the sword with how fast they were moving.. A tentacle from Cair’s Witchblade
wrapped around the demon's head allowing Wolverine to finish the demon off..

As a young girl entering the early years of puberty Gabby was a weapon created by Alchemax
to be a deadly assassin trained and programmed.. She was made into one of the programs top
assassins with her age and appearance she was always to be underestimated.. Like Logan and
Laura she was a Wolverine with all the skills and lethal instinct..
With her size and agility Scout was slashing and stabbing shadow demons from all directions..
She rolled around on the ground and leaped up into attack and then fell down into another roll
and then up into a flip slicing another.. Gabby was able to move in ways that both Logan and
Laura could not..
“Seth you good?!” Gabby spouted out to her brother as she saw him rip apart a shadow demon
with tentacles that came out of his armor.. “Bad ass!” She yelled again to him before plunging
her claw through a gold mask of a demon..

that he was feeling about what had happened to Rachel.. Rachel worked hard to heal herself of the
Hound she was made into by Ahab and the things that she had done under his control.. No matter
how all of this shakes out Rachel would have to try and re-heal those wounds..
“Stryfe will always embrace chaos in all forms and I do not think he knows about Cailleach or he
would be here for her right now!” Cable said to Kari as he blasted a couple of Shadow demons with
his telekinesis while spinning around with his Psimitar slicing the head off of another just as Karenza
cut one in half..
“They are staying dead thanks to Xorn..” Cable said as he spun around and grappled his arm around
his wife’s arm as they spun one another around slicing a group of demons that tried to surround them..
As they spun around Cable leaned forward and kissed Kari on the lips like they did in the danger room
when they came up with the move.. Nathan could not help himself.. |

Something was different with Proteus when he merged with Hope.. Both Hope and Proteus
expected that his powers would begin to hurt her the longer they stayed merged.. Instead
Proteus’s power stabilized inside of Hope and they shared their consciousness with Hope
still in control of herself.. They shared one another's memories as Proteus began to remember
what it was like to be Kevin MacTaggert.. He saw the wild and heartbreaking childhood Hope
had on the run with her father Cable across many future worlds.. She saw how his mother Moira
was not the best mother as she locked him away in a vault and began research testing when he
became a teen.. His powers burned out his body and needed the chamber to stay alive.. Kevin
slowly lost who he was and became Proteus.. He was trapped in that chamber until a battle with
the X-Men and Magneto caused the chamber to open and freed him.. The rest was X-Men history..
For the first time since he was a child he had hope with Hope..
Hope landed beside Cable and Karenza using her Psimitar like her father in combat..
“I was so worried about you both when our mental link was blocked!” Hope said as she continued
fighting the demons..
“It’s Proteus!” She said when her parents felt his consciousness with hers.. Hope shared what had
happened and what was happening between them..

Saber took a moment to look at the battle as it was starting its end phase. He looked
over to see the horde surrounding the team that was keeping the unconscious Farouk from
reemerging with the Shadow King.. At all costs that could not happen so Saber flew down
in full Sinnergy Phoenix Raptor and used his cosmic blue fire wings to swipe at as many
of the Horde that he could to destroy them.. He then landed beside Amahl Farouk’s body..
(Kari, I am going to take Faroak away from here.. When I return I will need your help to
remove the Shadow King from this world.) Saber said telepathically to Karenza.. It was
strange to him to call her by her first name when he had known her as his mother.. In
meditation with his spirit guides he had a vision that there was more to this story of
his beginnings that Mister Sinister was hiding from him.. A truth that he would take
from Sinister in the future..
Saber put his hand on Amahl Farouk’s shoulder and both of them disappeared in a cloud of
black smoke..
