In the board story of Sam Witwicky, I have had him mention the college he went to while he was away from the X-Men. One of his professors was a mutant, even though he never told Sam that fact. His name is Max Yaeger.

I need to work out his powers and his back story, but he was on the tenure track until the school's administrators found out his secret and tossed him out of the college.
I hope that he can be slotted into the Science squad down the road once he gets to Krakoa.

How he got involved with Sam Witwicky: Sam, being Sam, just sort of wandered through his first year at college until his advisor more or less begged Max to let the kid audit his class in hopes Witwicky would pick a major.
Where is Max now?: He's currently on the Orchis station in a stasis tubes as a subject in Project Dark Star
