OOC: No restrictions on anyone dropping into this thread. The manor house is more like a small castle than anything else. The living room is huge and has a lot of very old furniture in it, some weapons on the walls and the family's fabled "moving portrait" tapestry on the main wall (a magically woven work of art that shows all the family members and their spouses/lovers--changing as time goes on to rotate the figures in and out of prominence).
IC:
"Why in the name of Danu did we get this?"
Fachtna DalCais walked into the "living room" of the MacFeorais manor house in County Kildare, Ireland. She had been staying there with Eavan MacFeorais for ages now, and someone had dropped off an invitation for them to join the X-Men for their holiday gathering in, of all places, Atlantis. "I'm afraid this damnable thing will combust. Why are we being included in some X-Men party nonsense?"
"Because our nieces and nephews miss us?" Eavan said as she looked up from the floor where she was striking some very odd yoga pose.
"What is that? Downward facing hedgehog?" Fachtna giggled as Eavan toppled over in laughter. "I'm sorry. You expand your horizons. Just don't break your neck doing it."
Fachtna sat down on the oversized green velvet sofa and groaned as she thought about seeing anyone who called themselves Atlantean. "I really do not need to go to Atlantis ever again. I am sure Namor's family left many books calling me a loose woman for his kingship to find on a dreary afternoon. I was a bit of a panic when I was last there."
"Kari would not have sent that if she felt we would get into a fuss there," Eavan said as she looked down to the other end of the room to see if anyone was coming in at the moment. "For all we know, Hayley's friend is back, and this will be more joyous than we can imagine! And I know. Not everyone is thrilled with who his father is. Like he could choose his parents!"
"And the MacLeods may be there," Fachtna mumbled as she kept flipping the light green invitation in her hands. "I do not need to see that old grump Malcolm."
"Well, who can you see that might not cause a war?" Eavan asked as she smiled at Fachtna.
"Boris Johnson? No wait. He's getting married," Fachtna laughed as as set the invitation down. "It will be fine. I'm just not enthused about this. The X-Men tend to have tragedy pop up at their events. It's like it's some uninvited guest that always knows the worst time to arrive. Like I did at that wedding where the bride tried to behead me."

"That wedding? Why on Earth would I remember that wedding? You almost got beheaded, and I almost run through by the groom's family because they thought I pocketed one of the gifts," Eavan replied with a smirk as she got up from her yoga mat and picked up the invitation. "I am sure this affair will be a lot less, well, prone to either of us picking up a date or getting injured. Unless you have a thing for Magneto all of a sudden?"
Fachtna groaned as she lounged on the sofa. "Magneto? I am sure he might enjoy a chat with either of us, but beyond that? I am sure we are not his type. We are not exactly mutant enough for the likes of many in the group called homo superior. Although we were being superior to the lot of them for centuries."
"And please do not bring up En Sabah Nur around them. Please," Eavan added for emphasis as Fachtna laughed. "You know it will set my mother off if we even bring up his name."
"You mean the Black Faerie is going to this wedding-slash-holiday party as well?" Fachtna asked as Eavan nodded in reply. "Then I hope Hayley's lover doesn't pop up. For his sake."
"They are not lovers," Eavan said as she put her palm to her forehead. "Hayley would have said as much."
"Because Hayley is oh so open about her feelings? Eavan, we both love her to bits, but she is not exactly the most giving when it comes to her personal life. I can understand why. I am sure she wants none of us butting into her business."

There was a crash in one of the back rooms of the manor, and Rory MacFeorais came stumbling out into the living room with blood running from his nose and ears.
"Rory!" Eavan and Fachtna yelled in unison as their nephew collapsed to his knees. "What happened?" they asked together as he glared up at them.
"Grandmum. She was pulling a fast one. I caught her, and she bolted for one of her homes in another realm, but not before she hit me with this," Rory said as he dropped a very large candlestick from his right hand. "Propelled it from across the room and straight into my skull. She possessed Kari, and then everything went insane."
"She did what?" Fachtna asked as she looked at her nephew and placed her hand on the back of his neck. "Was this about Nur? Again? Why doesn't she let this drop?"
"If I knew, I'd tell you. Thank you," Rory replied as he felt the healing kick in. "She is not in this realm. I'd feel it if she were simply lurking in the shadows. What's that?" he asked as he saw the invitation nearby.
"X-Men party. One that we might not be welcome at now if Mum was making a mess of things again," Eavan said as she picked it up and checked to see if the wording had mysteriously changed after what her mother had done. "Ronan and Kennis will kill her."
"You mean Kari will," Fachtna noted as she pulled her hand away from Rory's neck. "That should do the trick. Now, about the grand dame, should we try to follow her?"
"No. We'd be walking into it, and I don't think any of us are up to that at the moment," Rory said as he took the invitation from his Aunt Eavan. "Holiday party and two weddings? Don't those things usually get shot to pieces for that lot?"
"Job hazard, I think Kari calls it," Eavan replied as she shook her head. "And what now?" she said as her cell phone went off. "And that is a call that can wait. Now, are we going to this party or what?"
"I'd like to hear from Kari if we still are invited," Rory said as he set down the invitation again. "I would not put a wager on it. I know that much."

"What happened this time?" Rory's brother Donal asked as he saw the candlestick on the floor. "Oh. From the look of things, nothing good. This appeared on my night stand," he said as he waved his own invitation to the X-Men's party. "Roslea sent this one. Put on a personal note about us all needing to be there because the, as she put it so nicely, offal hit the circulating motor blade. I heard you say Grandmum is at it again. That's just flipping fantastic."
"We know, and we agree," Eavan said to her nephew as she motioned to see his invitation. "No, it seems they still want us there."
"Just, for once in our lives, can we give someone a more modern, and likely more welcome, gift than a cauldron or some blade that has likely been cursed by Grandmum?" Donal asked only half-jokingly as he took his invitation back. "That one sword nearly killed all of us at that wedding. Damned Starks and their vendettas!"
"No wonder you have issues with iron Man," Rory said as he tried to stifle a laugh. "Sorry. I got clocked with the candlestick. Still hurts to laugh."
"Then what do you think they would like?" Fachtna asked as Donal shrugged his shoulders. "We can't simple give away land. That is frowned upon by a lot of local governments these days. taxes and all that."
"Do I look like a wedding gift registry?" Donal asked as he looked at the invitation again. "It's in bloody Atlantis. How can you top that anyway?"

IC:
Eavan turned off her phone and chucked it on a side table as she looked at Donal and smirked. "We were just talking about Atlantis earlier..." she started as Fachtna picked up the discarded cell. "Not yours, and not your worry," she said as she went to snatch it back.
"Well, you do not usually throw your phone around this much," Fachtna muttered as Eavan rolled her eyes and turned the damned thing back on.
"See? Your niece has been calling me all morning," Eavan said as she held up the cell and showed a contact photo of Aerfen DalCais. "Then her brother texted me to ignore the calls. It has to do with that Avenger The Black Knight," she said as she then swiped to a text from Aerfen's sibling Ardan. "Since when did he go all white hair?"
"Since he got a power spike. Hair dye won't fix it. Someone thought he was Dante Walker, and he got a tad...sore about it," Fachtna giggled as Eavan threw up her hands. "Well, that would mean he's tied at the hip to Sydney MacLeod, and Goddess knows Ardan is not a fan of their lot any more than I am!"
"Enough with the demon slaying lot from Edinburgh!" Eavan grumbled as she shook her finger at Fachtna. "Why did they rope me into their mess? You are their aunt, not me."
"Aerfen always felt you had a sympathetic ear," Rory said as he finally pulled away a cloth from the gash in his head. "Not that she felt you didn't, Auntie Fachtna. She just felt she could say more to Auntie Eavan without it getting back to anyone."
"And the Black Knight? Really? With that Ebony Blade? He's not exactly..." Fachtna started to say as Eavan put up her hand. "Fine. I'll keep that comment to myself. But we all know Aerfen picks winners, and I use that phrase very sarcastically. No one needs to tick off Earth's Mightiest Heroes after that drama around their stupid Civil War."
"And no more about that, either!" Eavan said as she pounded a fist on the side table. "Let Kari get in the mud with Stark if she wants. He'll wish he hadn't done a thing to the mystics when she is done with him."
