Code name: Ironshot
Real name: Chroma Alpha-nine-seven
Place of birth: lost planet in a distant galaxy
Age: somewhere around 120 million years
Race: Technorgan
Hair: silver or pitch black
Eyes: platinum or hazel
Height: varies from one body to the next from 2 inches to 150 miles
Weight: varies from one body to the next based on size and density
Family: roughly 300 other Chromas from Alpha-zero-one to Omega-five-nine
Physical mutation: Techno-organic hive-minded swarm
Powers: planetary system level technomancy (can hack every data network in the solar system at the same time though data actually obtained will be limited by network security), atomic assembly (can create new weapons/ armor/ bodies using the atoms within an inch of either the body/bodies she is using the power through or the item she is creating), hive mind (obviously, NOT telepathic).
Weaknesses: poor social skills and tends to stick out like a sore thumb by either sending the wrong body into an area or forgetting that the 'sentient' bodies are supposed to wear clothes. Needs a body in the same planetary system as the data network(s) she intends to hack. In the unlikely event the hive mind connection between her bodies is jammed, the bodies will either go inactive or develop a dissociative identity.
Outstanding features: runic tattoos similar to Norse, but drawn in a style closer to Egyptian on every body she uses whether the body is animal, vehicle, or even building.
Previous romantic involvement: Prismos Alpha-zero-five
Bio: Fairly normal for her race, Chroma took to slumming with 'lesser' races after her 65 millionth birthday at which point she had nearly as many bodies scattered throughout five galaxies. On discovering Earth and it's population, Chroma decided to try to blend in with the mutant population by sending in a few bodies that look like human females around 6 feet tall and a 'mutation' to create firearms such as pistols or shoulder mounted anti-tank rockets. The transport type body used by the infiltrator bodies has a dedicated fabrication bay for components to assemble a structure type body. Each body has it's own holo-generator for clothing, but she tends to forget to use them.

Welcome to the board.. Thank you for giving our board a try everyone on this community are really nice and love new players..
Now for your app.. The character is very overpowered and we would need to bring all of it down a bit.. On the board our players always have the characters with big powers balanced with a big weakness.. Also this is minor thing we do have a character on the board also named Chroma.. You do not have the change it because you have it as a name and not a code name.. Just letting you know when another Chroma pops up in the game.. So rework the power level and then I or others will look it over and approve it for the game.. Again welcome to XDE..

Any tips on boosting weaknesses to match powers? Not entirely sure just how the powers themselves could be toned down either given that she is a multi galaxy hive mind. (toning down the scale of the hive mind brings up the question of why no one has heard of her yet or mentioned her offhand in past events)

We had players in the past with a lot power that has God-modded the game really badly and caused trouble. We just find limits to our characters so we do not do that.

Greetings, Ironshot. I'm one of the board admins, and a few of us have been discussing your app this afternoon with Saber, the owner of the board. I'm going to do my best to consolidate everyone's concerns from that chat, but those in the chat and other staff members may chime in later if I missed anything. Thanks, Ghost, for weighing in on this.
First off, are you new to gaming, or might there be another board where you have gamed this character? If possible, we'd like to see how you handle this character while interacting with other gamers.
Also, is this character a hero or a villain?
This character as it stands is much too powerful and would need to be toned down. Galaxy-wide technomancy is too broad and must be limited by distance or some other factor such as being in direct contact with item.
The idea of the hive mind also needs to be changed or dropped, and the atomic assembly aspect needs to be limited by materials close at hand, more like a re-assembly of particles.
The way the character is written, it gives too much opportunity to just create whatever they think would be best suited for a situation because of the hive mind and the atomic assembly. Perhaps your character is one of a collective that has been cut off from the whole? That way the character has set limits on powers due to limited/broken connection to the hive?
I hope this helps. If you have further questions, please post them here.

I've not used this character on another board, though I was considering a version for Zoids AE if their site activity picked up enough to get an evaluation on another character that I'm pretty sure would need heavy editing to be compatible with XDE. Considering Alpha-nine-seven is trying to blend in, she will most likely turn out to be a hero. Technically, the technomancy is only system wide for hacking and not much further as a method of controlling the parts of the hive mind. I actually had the Zerg swarm in mind when creating this character with each hive mind equivalent to a Zerg brood. For further limits, I could limit active RP to the bodies on Earth mentioned in the bio section of the app. I suppose atoms on hand isn't enough of a limiter...

Ironshot,
Arwyn here.
So, the Admins have been going over your response and we still have a few concerns about the character. Anything in green is from your previous reply.

Question: Have you ever read any of the X-men comics? I’m asking this because the character reminds me more of an overpowered Nimrod mixed with Master Mold.
Considering Alpha-nine-seven is trying to blend in, she will most likely turn out to be a hero. Technically, the technomancy is only system wide for hacking and not much further as a method of controlling the parts of the hive mind. I had the Zerg swarm in mind when creating this character with each hive mind equivalent to a Zerg brood.
Okay, I will admit that I’m not a big follower of StarCraft, that being said I am a lifelong Trekkie. So, I’m going to be using the Borg as a reference point when talking about the hive mind.
Most hive minded creatures are all about the preservation of the hive (see bees for a natural example of this). That means that Alpha-nine-seven should be all about making others like her. “We are Borg, Resistance is futile.”
As was mention perhaps Alpha was cut off or taken from the hive mind. A good example of a character surviving the trauma of no longer having the other voices of the hive in her mind all the time is Seven of Nine from Star Trek Voyager. She was still cold and thought like the Borg from time to time but by the end of the series she’d developed into a well-loved character.
For further limits, I could limit active RP to the bodies on Earth mentioned in the bio section of the app. I suppose atoms on hand isn't enough of a limiter.
In all honesty I would say limit the amount of bodies she can have in play at any given time. That will help you and everyone else keep track of where you are while she’s in play.
Even then that’s a lot of atoms in the surrounding area, so no that isn’t enough of a limit. I would say that maybe she can manipulate the atoms that make up her body. As for the Technomancy; I would say even system wide (meaning our solar system) is to board an ability. Planetary weapons systems would be at her disposal which is not something we’re going for here.
I personally play a Technomancer, with the idea based off the rules for Technos from Shadowrun 4th ed. They can do a lot, but they are limited by the connection the system has to the internet. For her I have it that she has sprites that can assist her in her hacking.
Please take these suggestions into consideration when you make your next reply.
Thank you, ~Arwyn~

I've read a few X-Men comics, but don't recall the characters you mention. I was aiming for the hive mind itself more than a traditional hive mind character. Considering the types of atoms, perhaps within an inch of the body using the atomic assembly power for a limit? Technomancy hacking should of course be limited by firewalls. The system wide range is meant to be the upper limit on simultaneous hacks. I'll edit the app once my desktop has a proper connection since posting can be a real hassle on mobile devices.

I'm sorry, but this character just isn't the right fit for this board.
When asked to tone down the powers and beef up the weaknesses you did the bare minimum that you could get away with.
All of us on the Administrative team talked about this in private and none of us had a warm and fuzzy feeling about the hive mind. When it was pointed out that planetary systems were out of bounds it was ignored.
And honestly deciding to go the route of DID, for if the character's body[ies] were to be cut off wasn't the wisest choice. A trigger that can manifest this disorder is PTSD, and a few of us here on the board have people in our lives that deal with PTSD on a daily basis. So for it to be an after thought weakness to appease people is a slap in the face really.
As of now this thread is locked and if you have any questions you can send it to us in a pm via the Administrators group option.
