Hisoka is a second generation Japanese American, growing up in a house full of family and tradition. His grandparents made sure to share with the rest of the family the old ways. Something about remembering the ancestors. At any rate, it helped Hisoka fall in love with theater, both american and japanese, and dance. These things, accompanied with his rather feminine looks, caused him no end of trouble growing up. After suffering at the hands of bullies, he finally took martial arts training to be able to defend himself, especially after he realized he was gay. He actually never considered himself a "Mutant" even with his odd hair and eye color, at least not until he was kidnapped after a performance one night and overheard his captors talking.
