EXTERMINATION: Harry's Hidaway (Morning of..)PART-3

Kari stopped in her tracks when she heard Quentin's voice. Nathan had filled her in when she was released from her cocoon prison in the vault about everything everyone had gone through in her absence. Everyone had grown and changed, and some had given up much for those they all called family. Quentin likely was at the top of that list now because of his "broken" connection to the Phoenix as he made the sacrifice to help Jubilee.

In the back of her mind, Kari was not sure how that would all play out in the end where Quentin was concerned. If the Phoenix's sister force inside her was any indication, there would likely be chapters to be played out no one could have suspected while preparing to run headlong into this war with Orchis. 

As she took a deep breath and smiled at Quentin, she reached out her hand to him. "Thank you, Quentin. I just wish Kurt were here to lead us in prayer as well. And Saber. In our own ways, we are all praying and sending the most all-encompassing vibes to those around us. If you had not felt attuned to the greater universe, you would not have been able to tell us about those captured by Orchis. Thank you for what you did."

Kari gently touched the gauntlet on her arm and wondered how much Nathan knew about what was to come and was unable to tell her. That talk would have to wait for another day.

"I promise this time not to get hooked to a Hive Mother and end up in some dreadful mess I can't undo, gentlemen," she said as she looked toward Scott and Logan. She was referring to the time she basically blew up a Sentinel Hive in space to save the team. It helped her get her memory back once she was finally rescued, but those near-death experiences were more than anyone needed her to pull this time. "No one needs a repeat of the Summers War."
